What we do

The aim of the Secretariat is primarily to ensure that prompt and equitable payment of compensation to victims of oil pollution damage can be achieved. However, it also has a responsibility to ensure that the International Liability and Compensation Regime generally functions as intended and endeavours to do so through various means, including the collection of reports of contributing oil receipts, the invoicing and collection of contributions to the Funds and the promotion of the regime worldwide.
