On 11 October 2023, the Director was delighted to meet the new Ambassador and Permanent Representative for France to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), H.E. Ms Marine De Carné-Trécesson, who will also be the new Head of Delegation and key focal point for the IOPC Funds.

The Ambassador was previously Permanent Secretary for the South Pacific, Permanent Representative of France to the Pacific Community and the Pacific Regional Environment Programme.

France is a Member State of both the 1992 Fund and the Supplementary Fund and was an original State Party to the 1971 Fund Convention.  It has had active representation at meetings of the IOPC Funds since the establishment of the first Fund in 1978 and is a current member of the 1992 Fund Executive Committee.

Having experienced first-hand the impact of major oil pollution incidents, France is a firm supporter of the international liability and compensation regime and the work of the organisation.

The Director looks forward to working with Ambassador De Carné-Trécesson to continue that longstanding, excellent cooperation between the IOPC Funds and France.
