Los FIDAC reciben la visita de estudiantes de la Universidad Erasmo de Róterdam

On 25 February 2025, the IOPC Funds hosted a group of 37 students from Erasmus University Rotterdam at the organisation’s London offices.
The visit, which takes place each year, provided the students, who are studying for a Master of Laws Degree, a valuable opportunity to gain insight into the1992 Civil Liability Convention, the 1992 Fund Convention, as well as the Supplementary Fund Protocol. The three Conventions constitute the legal framework governing the international liability and compensation regime for ship-source oil pollution.
IOPC Funds’ Claims Manager, Mr Matthew de Plater, delivered the first of a two-part presentation focused on claims and compensation. He gave a comprehensive overview of the IOPC Funds’ role and explained the types of claims covered under the 1992 Civil Liability and Fund Conventions, in addition to the admissibility criteria applied by the IOPC Funds following oil spill incidents.
The second presentation, led by IOPC Funds’ HNS Project Manager, Ms Gillian Grant, provided a comprehensive overview of the 2010 HNS Convention, its current status, and the IOPC Funds’ role in the lead up to its entry into force.
Following the conclusion of each session, the students demonstrated keen interest and asked several questions.
The IOPC Funds is committed to sharing knowledge and raising awareness about the international liability and compensation regime for ship-source oil pollution and the 2010 HNS Convention. Each year, the organisation extends support to educational institutions by delivering lectures to university students, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the pertinent Conventions.
