1992 Fund Convention enters into force for Nauru
Nauru has become the 118th Member State of the 1992 Fund after the 1992 Civil Liability and Fund Conventions entered into force for the State on 23 March 2021.
A small island in the south western Pacific Ocean, Nauru is surrounded by a coral reef and has a coastline of 30km. The Funds’ Director, José Maura, is delighted to welcome Nauru to the 1992 Fund and is pleased that this environmentally sensitive State will now be protected against the financial risk of oil pollution incidents under the international liability and compensation regime.
