Autumn educational visits

The Secretariat is regularly requested to give presentations to organisations and groups of students from higher education institutions around the world. Following the lecture to students from the World Maritime University in July, on 17 October 2013, the Legal Counsel gave a lecture to six ITLOS Nippon Fellows, who are participating in the dispute settlement training programme organised by International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) and supported by the Nippon Foundation. The Legal Counsel gave a lecture on the legal framework of the international liability and compensation regime and introduced some of the recent topics being addressed within the IOPC Funds.
In recent weeks the Secretariat has hosted two universities, the Secretariat hosted 33 students from the University of Deusto, Spain on 30 October 2013 and 23 students from Ghent University, Belgium, on 12 November 2013.
