On 29 March 2022, the IOPC Funds participated in an information day organised by Cedre in collaboration with the Department for Biodiversity of the French Ministry for Ecological Transition.  This conference was first created in 1995 and is organised every year to address a specific technical issue in the field of spill response.

This year, the event focused on the consideration of the environmental impacts of water pollution, both at sea and in inland waters.  Key topics were addressed including pollution prevention, response to a spill and the impact on the marine environment. Head of External Relations and Conference, Thomas Liebert delivered an online presentation on the international liability and compensation regime and explained some of the costs for environmental damage that are admissible in principle under the Conventions.

The event welcomed over one hundred participants from the maritime industry including key stakeholders from the environmental monitoring field (French State and foreign Administrations) as well as specialised press.  The conference was a good opportunity for all participating parties to share expertise and engage in fruitful and constructive open exchanges.
