Coordination meeting on ratification of the HNS Convention

At the invitation of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands, representatives from Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands met at The Hague on Thursday 12 December 2019, to discuss the progress made thus far by their States towards the ratification of the 2010 HNS Protocol.  As discussed at previous IOPC Funds’ meetings, a coordinated approach to the ratification process was strongly promoted and supported during this meeting, with all four States already undertaking a series of key steps towards the implementation of the HNS Convention.

IOPC Funds’ Head of External Relation & Conference, Thomas Liebert, was also invited to participate in the meeting, which in addition, covered the reporting requirements under the HNS Convention.  Mr Liebert was able to answer questions related to reporting as well as other requirements and offer the support of the Secretariat in respect of the ratification and implementation of the Convention.
