EMSA training course on ‘Civil Liability in the Maritime Domain’

The IOPC Funds participated in a training course on ‘Civil Liability in the Maritime Domain’ in Lisbon, Portugal, from 12 to 13 December 2018. The course, which was organised by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), was aimed at representatives from non-Member States of the European Union, specifically from the Southern Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia) to which EMSA provides technical assistance via the SAFEMED-IV Project.

The Funds’ Legal Counsel, Kensuke Kobayashi, provided participants with an overview of the Conventions, the role of the Funds and various types of claims. Other presentations were given by the International Group of P&I Associations and EMSA itself.
