International Shipping Summit, Istanbul, Turkey

The Director, José Maura, participated in the International Shipping Summit in Istanbul, Turkey on 17 March 2018. The event, which was opened by Prime Minister of Turkey, Binali Yıldırım, was hosted by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications in honour of the 70th anniversary of the International Maritime Organization. Transport Minister, Ahmet Arslan, also spoke at the opening ceremony.
The event was attended by prominent maritime industry representatives and senior members of maritime administrations from various States. A number of panel discussions took place during the event, with a keynote speech from the Secretary-General of IMO on the Organization’s achievements. The Director delivered a presentation on the international liability and compensation regime during one of the panel sessions.
