The IOPC Funds participated in the 12th meeting of the Focal Points of the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) in Malta from 23–25 May. The event was attended by 18 Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention as well as a number of intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations. The Funds’ Information Officer, Victoria Turner, presented a document which highlighted the latest developments in the international liability and compensation regime and the work of the IOPC Funds since the last meeting of the Focal Points in June 2015. A number of items of interest to the IOPC Funds were discussed during the meeting, in particular the approval by the Focal Points of a draft Mediterranean Guide on cooperation and mutual assistance in responding to marine pollution incidents, to which the IOPC Funds had contributed.
