At the invitation of the National Maritime Institute (INAMAR) of Mozambique, the IOPC Funds ran a workshop in Maputo, from 6 to 8 March 2018, on claims and compensation following an oil spill from tankers. Claims Manager, Chiara DellaMea and Claims Administrator, Chrystelle Collier, delivered presentations on the international liability and compensation regime for oil pollution damage. On behalf of the International Group of P&I Associations, Vice-President and Head of Environmental Claims at Gard Club, Nick Platt, presented on other liability conventions.
The workshop, which culminated in a simulation exercise covering response to a spill and the submission of claims for compensation, was attended by over 40 participants from several government departments and private industries.
