Online training for Croatia
On 12 December, the IOPC Funds had the pleasure of providing an online presentation to members of the Croatian National Headquarters as part of the International Maritime Organization’s Level 3 oil pollution preparedness and response training. This presentation offered a valuable opportunity to enhance the attendees’ understanding of the international liability and compensation regime for oil pollution damage. Claims Manager, Mark Homan, provided a comprehensive overview of the organisation’s role and operational processes.
He also discussed the 2010 HNS Convention, which, when it enters into force, will provide compensation for damage caused by incidents involving Hazardous and Noxious Substances. He gave an overview of the Convention, the criteria for admissibility of claims, and the latest developments in terms of the number of contracting States and the positive progress towards entry into force.
