RAMOGEPOL 2018

The IOPC Funds were invited for the first time to participate in the RAMOGEPOL exercise that was held this year in La Maddalena island, Italy from 11 to 13 September 2018. RAMOGEPOL is an emergency response plan set up by France, Italy and Monaco in 1993 to combat incidences of accidental marine pollution in the Mediterranean. The authorities of the three States parties to the RAMOGE agreement undertake an annual joint simulation exercise to prepare for marine pollution incident response. Claims Manager, Chiara Della Mea, delivered a presentation during the initial briefing of the exercise about the application of the international liability and compensation regime. She also participated in the exercise as part of the Exercise Evaluation Team tasked with assessing the running of the operations by the participants and the success of the exercise.
