Regional Workshop, Buenos Aires, Argentina

The IOPC Funds took part in a five-day regional workshop on the International Maritime Organization (IMO) civil liability conventions from 14 to 18 May 2018, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The workshop was jointly organised by IMO’s Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP), ROCRAM (an association of Maritime Authorities of South America) and the Naval Prefecture of Argentina (Prefectura Naval). It attracted representatives from 13 different States, including six 1992 Fund Member States. IOPC Funds’ Director, José Maura, joined representatives from IMO and the International Group of P&I Associations, in delivering presentations and holding discussion sessions on the international liability and compensation regime for tanker spills, the role of the IOPC Funds and the 2010 HNS Convention.
