On 1 November 2023,  the IOPC Funds had the pleasure of hosting a group of students from the University College of Ghent, Belgium, studying for their Masters of Science in Maritime Science. This visit offered a valuable opportunity to enhance the students’ understanding of the international liability and compensation regime.

Claims Manager, Mark Homan, provided a comprehensive overview of the organisation’s role and operational processes. He also discussed the Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS) Convention, explaining its relevance, the criteria for admissibility of claims, and the latest developments pertaining to its entry into force.

The IOPC Funds is committed to sharing knowledge and raising awareness about the international liability and compensation regime. Each year, the organisation extends support to educational institutions by delivering lectures to university students, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the pertinent Conventions.  For further enquiries or information, contact externalrelations@iopcfunds.org.
