Visit to Japan 2019

The IOPC Funds’ Director, Mr José Maura, travelled with the Legal Counsel, Mr Kensuke Kobayashi, to Tokyo, Japan during the week of 14 October 2019 to meet with both Japanese Government representatives and contributors to the IOPC Funds.

The Director held fruitful meetings with the Chairman of the Petroleum Industry Marine Association of Japan (PIMA), Mr Saita and with the Maritime Bureau Director-General, Mr Otsubo and other officers at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).

The Director and Legal Counsel also took the opportunity to visit the National Strike Team of the Japanese Coast Guard, in Yokohama.  The National Strike Team is specially trained to respond to oil spills and spills of hazardous and noxious substances.
