Visit to Japan

The IOPC Funds’ Director, Mr Gaute Sivertsen, travelled with Policy Officer, Mr Yuji Okugawa, to Tokyo, Japan during the week of 10 April 2023 to meet with Japanese Government officials, Mr Takahashi, Director General of the Maritime Bureau, MLIT and Mr Watanabe, Director General, Guard and Rescue Department, Japan Coast Guard.

The Director held productive meetings with senior officials from the Petroleum Industry Marine Association of Japan (PIMA), the Japan Maritime Centre and the Japanese Shipowners’ Association (JSA).

The Director also met with Prof. Tomotaka Fujita, (Vice Chair of the 1992 Fund Assembly) and Prof. Goto, of the Tokyo University, and met with Audit Body member, Dr Ohsuga and other former Legal Counsels.

The visit was an excellent opportunity to strengthen the valuable cooperation between the IOPC Funds and both government and industry organisations.
