Visit to Portuguese Institute for Mobility and Transport

On 2 July 2025, IOPC Funds’ Director, Gaute Sivertsen, and HNS Project Manager, Gillian Grant, paid a courtesy visit to the Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT) in Lisbon, Portugal.
They met with Ms Maria da Luz António, a Board Member of IMT together with other representatives from the IMT and the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
Mr Sivertsen delivered a short presentation on the role of the IOPC Funds, the latest incidents and other issues being dealt with by the organisation and the current items being considered by Member States at the meetings of the governing bodies. Ms Grant also took the opportunity to discuss the 2010 HNS Convention and its progress towards entry into force.
Portugal is a Member State of both the 1992 Fund and Supplementary Fund but is not yet a Contracting State to the 2010 HNS Convention. It actively participates in meetings of the IOPC Funds’ governing bodies and Portuguese representative, Mr Carlos Sequeira, was appointed first Vice Chair of the Supplementary Fund Assembly in November 2024.
