Following his election in November 2021, Gaute Sivertsen has now taken up office as Director of the IOPC Funds as of 1 January 2022.  Mr Sivertsen of Norway began his five-year term of office with the Secretariat at the Organisation’s headquarters in London this week following the departure of his predecessor, Mr José Maura, whose second term of office as Director came to an end in December 2021. More information on Mr Sivertsen’s background is available under the Secretariat section.

Mr Sivertsen joins the Secretariat at a time when, in accordance with current UK Government guidance relating to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, staff are for the most part working remotely as a precautionary measure. The IMO building, and consequently the IOPC Funds’ offices are currently closed to visitors.  However, the organisation continues to process claims and pay compensation.  Furthermore, whether at the office or working from home, staff remain contactable via their usual email addresses and contact numbers.  In the case of any doubt or for general enquiries, it is recommended that the email address info@iopcfunds.org is used.   Please rest assured that all messages will be received and responded to at the earliest opportunity.

Mr Sivertsen is looking forward to working with all members of the Secretariat and hopeful that it will be possible for more staff to return to the office in due course.  He is already beginning preparations for his first meeting of the governing bodies as Director in March 2022, and is looking forward to engaging with Member States, industry and other stakeholders over the coming months.
