The IOPC Funds were invited to participate in the International Group of P&I Clubs Correspondents’ Conference in London, United Kingdom, from 24 to 26 September 2022.  The event was hosted by the International Group of P&I Clubs and was attended by over 500 correspondents from different countries who act as local advisers in the event of an incident or casualty involving a vessel entered with one of the 13 P&I Clubs comprising the International Group.  The role of the correspondents is to examine and solve a wide range of issues arising from an incident.

The Deputy Director/Head of the Claims Department participated in a session entitled “partnership for goals” with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and Wikborg Rein LLP.  She delivered a presentation on the role of the IOPC Funds in the handling of oil pollution incidents and reinforced the importance of close collaboration with other stakeholders.

The IOPC Funds have worked closely with Clubs’ correspondents on numerous incidents and have benefited greatly from their practical knowledge and experience.  The Conference was an opportunity for participants to network, build connections and discuss initiatives to ensure a sustainable shipping industry.
