Last year the Republic of Nicaragua became the 114th 1992 Fund Member State, when the 1992 Fund Convention entered into force for that State on 4 April 2015.
The IOPC Funds was invited to run a 2-day seminar to provide the Maritime Authority of Nicaragua with an overview of the international liability and compensation regime, as well as a valuable insight into the structure and function of the IOPC Funds. The Director and Head of the Claims Department gave presentations on the legal framework of the international liability and compensation regime, oil fate and effects and response options, the different types of claims and implementation of the international regime in national legislation.
