The IOPC Funds took part in a four-day interactive regional workshop on the International Maritime Organization (IMO) civil liability conventions in Suva, Fiji, between 26–29 September. Hosted by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and organised and funded by IMO’s Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP), the workshop saw the IOPC Funds’ Legal Counsel, Mr Kensuke Kobayashi, join representatives from IMO and the International Group of P&I Associations, where he delivered presentations and joined discussion sessions on the international liability and compensation regime for tanker spills, the role of the IOPC Funds and the 2010 HNS Convention.
