Visit by Namibia

On 30 November 2023, the Director, Gaute Sivertsen, welcomed the Namibian Minister of Works and Transport, the Honorable John Mutorwa, the Executive Director of the Ministry, Esther Kaapanda and the High Commissioner of Namibia in London, H.E. Linda Scott, together with other senior officials from the Namibian delegation to IMO.

The Minister and his colleagues were interested to meet with the Director, whilst in London attending the 33rd session of the IMO Assembly.  Mr Sivertsen, took the opportunity to provide a brief overview of the role of the IOPC Funds and the current priorities and challenges of the organisation.

A very fruitful discussion took place, during which the Director answered a variety of questions from the representatives. He was very happy to note the level of interest in and support for the work of the organisation and looks forward to the continued cooperation between Namibia and the IOPC Funds.

Namibia is a 1992 Fund Member State and recently nominated a candidate for election to the IOPC Funds’ joint Audit Body. At the November 2023 session of the 1992 Fund Assembly, the Namibian candidate, Mr Christoph Mungandjela, was successfully elected to serve on the IOPC Funds’ joint Audit Body for a term of three years.
