The governing bodies of the IOPC Funds convened sessions from 29 April to 1 May 2024 at the headquarters of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London.

Over the three-day period, the 24th session of the 1992 Fund Administrative Council, acting on behalf of the 28th extraordinary session of the 1992 Fund Assembly; the 82nd session of the 1992 Fund Executive Committee, and the 12th extraordinary session of the Supplementary Fund Assembly had a fruitful meeting where a number of key decisions were taken. In particular, the 1992 Fund Executive Committee carefully discussed developments on the recent oil pollution incident in Trinidad and Tobago.

The governing bodies also discussed other important matters relating to the international liability and compensation regime for Ship-sourced oil pollution.

A total of 60 Member States of the 1992 Fund, 22 Member States of the Supplementary Fund and one observer State, including 13 observer organisations, attended the respective sessions.

A summary of the key decisions taken at the sessions is available here, and the full Record of Decisions of the meeting is available via the Document Services section of the IOPC Funds’ website.

The governing bodies of the IOPC Funds meet two or three times a year, during which they make key decisions regarding the administration of the organisation.
