Interspill 2015, the European oil spill conference and exhibition, took place from 24-26 March 2015 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. As a member of the organising committee, the IOPC Funds’ Secretariat was involved in the organisation of the event. The Director, the Head of External Relations and Conference Department and the Head of the Claims Department presented or chaired sessions at the conference. The Secretariat also had a stand at the exhibition, which attracted a large number of visitors seeking further information on the work of the organisation or requesting guidance on the claims process and admissibility criteria.
The event was preceded by a small number of training courses on Monday 23 March 2015. The IOPC Funds’ Secretariat, together with a P&I Club (Skuld), ran a claims and compensation short course. It also coordinated a short course entitled Salvage, Wrecks and HNS, which included speakers from the IOPC Funds, the salvage industry and IMO.
The event was very successful and beneficial to the IOPC Funds to enhance further the profile of the international oil pollution compensation regime.
